Leah Vlemmiks is a self-taught filmmaker, writer, and photographer. 

Her first music video "Tesfay" for Witch Prophet (2020) was an Official Selection at the SXSW 2021 Film Festival, the 2021 Rhode Island International Film Festival,  won Best Music Video at the 2021 Aesthetica  Short Film Festival, and was the only music video screened in the Short Film program at the 2021 Urbanworld Film Festival. Tesfay was nominated for Best International R&B/Soul Video at the 2021 UKMVAs along with Beyonce, The Weeknd, Cardi B ft. Normani, and Bryson Tiller. Tesfay also made the 1.4 Awards Longlist, won Best Music Video at the UK Shiny Awards and was nominated to the  Top 10 for the 2021 Prism Prize, honouring the best Canadian music videos of the year.  Leah was nominated for Best Director at the 2021 Buenos Aires Music Video Festival. Leah won Best Director at the 2021 Women in Film & Television Showcase. 

In December 2021, Leah was invited to participate in the inaugural  Mongrel Media X Crow's Theatre Screenwriter's Incubator.

In 2023, Leah was awarded a Canada Council for the Arts grant to develop her film "Goswina" in Oxford, UK.

Her work has been featured in Vogue, Complex, The Fader, Fast Company, Applied Arts, CBC, Webby's, and many more.

Select clients include Coca-Cola, Virgin,  Volkswagen, , Ford, Penguin Books,  Toyota, Air Canada, Ford, and Stella Artois.

She can also tap dance.
